…hope this note finds you both very well. We are well and continue on here in Ukraine. I wanted to give you an update about Ariana (we were there yesterday)…she is doing very well and has gotten over the flu…she was so happy to receive your gifts, she really appreciated everything. I believe this is the first time that she has received such nice things.

3. Daniel & Sean: adopted by parents, and God..

"When I was 6 years old, I did not have any parents. My brothers and I were sent to the orphanage, where we stayed for quite a long time. My grandma told me about God, and from early childhood I truly believed in Him, but I could not do what it said in the Bible, or I was too small or I did not take everything that was happening seriously. It was sometime in 8 grade I met a very nice person, with whom (I always communicate) I kept in contact and he told me about God and not only told me about Him but also invited me to church, where I repented and gave my life to God. Then God started working in my life. I quit all of my bad habits and I started to do good things. I started to write poems about God and I made a lot of good friends. Then I started dreaming only about one thing, to have a family because every child needs love and care. I never knew that my wish would come true and when it happened I understood that there is nothing impossible for God. Sometimes He takes away the silver to give us gold. I understood that God gives us not what we want but what we need, so don’t ask, “Why,” but “For what.” When our parents came to get us (my brother and I) there was a revolution in our country and some government institutions closed. The officials made us travel passports just before everything closed. But I know that God is in control and He knows everything and He is everywhere in everything. Maybe it was a trial for us and we passed it because we trusted only in the Lord. As for America, I like it very much; everyone I met here is friendly, sincere, and kind. I like new things, so for me the trip was something even bigger than I could imagine. Everyone helps each other because they love God and God causes all things to work together for good for those who love Him. I thank God that He gave me a good, loving family, for always having something to eat, that I have clothes and for a lot of friends and simply because we are alive, we and everyone here are valuable to God. No matter how much good deeds we did, God saved us not because of good deeds but because of His mercy.

"We had a pointless and meaningless life without God. Three years ago I was told that I was going to America (Love Cradle Int.’s Rainbow of Hope Hosting Program). I was very happy. It was night when we came to America. We met Steve and Irina and we all went to a church. We felt sleepy on the road, but when we came there we were not sleepy any more. We were filled with joy when we came into a big room. There were families sitting in a circle. We all started guessing which of these families would be ours. We had a great evening, meeting our families. After we all met each other we went home. I went straight to sleep, and in the morning, when I woke up I did not want to open my eyes because I thought it was all a dream, but I still opened them and I realized that I was in a new house, so I thanked God. At first I could not believe it, but then I quickly adapted and settled in. Then we went to meet the others. Instead of having school we had church. Five days a week we went somewhere. We had a lot of excursions. We were in a lot of places, and it is hard to say what we did not do. We rode horses, and we also went fishing. We went to see a baseball game. They let us go on a tour of the stadium and they also let us catch baseballs. There was rain after the game, and they could not sign our baseballs, but it still was very fun. When I came home I told everyone that I caught a real baseball. We also went to play mini-golf. Overall, we had a good time. The time went by very fast, and when we were leaving back to the orphanage I did not want to cry, so as not to disappoint those who wanted to see me happy. I have very deep and great respect to “Nick” and Connie who showed me a warm welcome. I did not miss a moment, and I enjoyed everything that happened to me.
